Why Run this Test?

In the world of Functional Medicine there has been no single test more appreciated for the assessment of a patient with ongoing chronic health issues than the HPA stress profile. Typically, this profile includes the measurement of salivary cortisol at various times throughout the day, along with a measurement of DHEA-S or DHEA. From this data, a profile of HPA staging is determined (stage I, II and II) to best explain an individual’s status regarding cortisol and DHEA production in the context of stress maladaptation.
